May 2019 Apprentice Circle Discussion: Most Important Job

5/7/2019

Your most important job is to ensure that your client has a good experience.
  • Learn how to describe the wonderful services we offer as well as the benefits of each one. Make the right amount of the right promises and will make people comfortable and glad to be here.
  • Practice giving them just enough so as to not overwhelm them and let them come to certain conclusions on their own. Don’t push it until they are ready to hear it.
  • Learn how to perform each part of the facial along with the tasks surrounding the service efficiently and properly. Getting your timing right comes only with diligent practice.
Encourage them to choose the best level for themselves:
  • "No matter what level you choose, we will tailor the facial to your particular needs. In a level 1, we will focus on getting your skin to a place where it functions well on its own. A level 2, will add an integrative therapy pinpointed to your specific needs (name the needs that they have mentioned prior or that you may see) and a level 3 adds a body-mind alignment to the previous levels which makes it even more relaxing and resonates with the nervous system."
  • Don't think that offering a higher-level facial is “upselling” something they don’t need or think that it is wrong or a scam. Most clients want the best experience for the money and for many, that does indeed mean getting the best or most expensive. Let them have that. Let them make the investment in themselves.
  • If they choose a level 1 when you think that they need more (such as an integrative therapy), do the parts that will most benefit them, but keep it within the scope and specific time frame of the service they are paying for.
There will inevitably be mistakes as you being your practice. What makes it easier in our process is that we don’t FORCE anything, so if you make a “mistake” there is no harm done, you just may not see the results as quickly as if you took a more straight forward path.
  • Keep a pleasant outward appearance, even when the client is in an unpleasant mood or has a meltdown. Address their skin concerns can be emotional and trying for many people. So can letting go of past beliefs that they may have been clinging to.
  • Have firm boundaries. Particularly needy clients may try to use you as a way to get therapeutic needs met that we don’t and cannot provide.
  • Compassion for yourself and others is key here.
